English Spellings: Term 1 - Week 7 : Prefix: il/im/in/ir- immediately, impolite, irregular, impatient, insecure, impossible, incredible, illegal, incomplete, imbalance
Extension Words: irresponsible, immature, impractical
All spellings should be learned by Friday. Anyone who has differentiated spellings please draw a star beside the spellings you have learned.

Recount Writing: Over the course of the week we would like the children to write a factual recount  about the drama they saw in school last week ; “The Little Princess”. The recount will take the form of a newspaper article. The children have been working on recounts and learning about them since we returned to school. We are sending home a planning sheet to help them plan their recount before they go to write it. 
We would like them to do at the very least a plan, a first draft and a final draft with revisions and corrections evident. We would like this work to be done in their homework copies. Here is a suggested time frame:
Monday - look at the planning framework to help structure their ideas and write their plan into their copy book , then begin their first draft.
Tuesday -  Finish first draft in copies and re –read it , checking for spellings , punctuation , organisation and structure.  Look at adding detail and maybe rephrasing parts to improve it.
Wednesday/Thursday - Write out their final draft into copies.
As the children are in 5th class we expect their presentation to be neat and tidy; margins and headings to be ruled in red pen and neat handwriting throughout.

Helpful vocabulary : The Little Princess, MM productions, sets, costumes , lighting, actors, themes bullying and friendship, audience, dancing, music, songs, packed hall, crowded, full, interactive and enjoyable, characters – Ram Dass, Emily, Lavinia, Becky, Sarah, Ermenguarde, London,India, narrator, Thursday 10th October.

Litriú Ghaeilge: Seachtain a seacht -  Learn the new question and how to answer it, revise the previous 4 questions and answers. If you are practising writing the phrases please use your H/W copy. Test on Friday.


Tables: Revise the ALL times multiplication tables. Revision sheet at back of  Display Folder. Test on Friday.

Weaving Well-Being: Complete lesson 1 Homework - The Importance of Relationships (page 4 of Pupil Book)
Parents should sign the box at the end of page 4 to show that you have discussed the activity.

Notes: 
  • Please get Tests signed and return Test Copy.
  • Remember to revise for your spelling and tables each night.
  • Allergies/Medical info: If your child has any allergies or medical conditions please email the details to your child's class teacher asap. We are updating the files and it's critical that we have the correct information.
  • Wear PE gear every Tuesday 
  • Learning Support withdrawals have also begun for anyone who needs additional support. If you have any Q's please don't hesitate to email us.
