English Spellings: Term 1 - Week 5 : Prefix de - delete, decrease, delay, depart, decay, define, descend, decode, degree, decision
Extension Words: depress, detached, defeat
All spellings should be learned by Friday. Anyone who has differentiated spellings please draw a star beside the spellings you have learned.

Recount Writing: Over the course of the week we would like the children to write a factual recount  about the upcoming student council elections. The recount will take the form of a newspaper article. The children have been working on recounts and learning about them since we returned to school. We are sending home a planning sheet to help them plan their recount before they go to write it. 
We would like their recount plan and final draft to be written into their homework copies.
Here is a suggested time frame:
Monday - look at the planning frame to help structure their ideas and write their plan into their copybook
Tuesday - using their plan begin to write  the first draft of their recount 
Wednesday - reread and edit their first draft to improve it. Checking vocab, punctuation and structure.
Thursday- Write out their final draft.

Helpful vocabulary : student council, 16 candidates, election promises, commitments, campaign, speeches, voting, representing the student body, election results, ballot paper, debate, president, vice president.



Litriú Ghaeilge: Seachtain a ceathair -  Learn the 3 new questions and how to answer them. Translations and phonetic pronunciation is included to help parents and kids. If you are practising writing the phrases please use your H/W copy. Test on Friday.

Master Your Maths: Week 4 - Complete sections 1-4 by Friday the 4th October. You shouldn't be behind a night/section but you can go ahead and complete sections 1-4 earlier in the week if you know you're going to be busy later in the week.
Rough work for your work can be done in your homework copy or your Master Your Maths book.

Tables: Revise the ALL times multiplication tables. Revision sheet at back of  Display Folder. Test on Friday.

Notes: 
  • The Student Council Speeches will take place this Wednesday 2nd October 2019 from 8.45 to 9.10.
  • Please get Tests signed and return Test Copy.
  • Remember to revise for your spelling and tables each night.
  • Allergies/Medical info: If your child has any allergies or medical conditions please email the details to your child's class teacher asap. We are updating the files and it's critical that we have the correct information.
  • Wear PE gear every Tuesday 
  • Learning Support withdrawals have also begun for anyone who needs additional support. If you have any Q's please don't hesitate to email us.
